Hank Green; a beacon of light in the TikTok cesspool

TikTok can be a cesspool of misinformation, outrage baiting, hopelessness, and negativity. Thankfully though, Hank Green is someone who goes out of his way to combat these darker aspects of TikTok.

Hank wears many hats; vlogger, science communicator, author, entrepreneur, producer, musician, and now TikTok star. As a science communicator Hank's specialty on TikTok is boiling down complicated scientific concepts into ways that the short-attention-spanned TikTok viewers can easily digest. He answers silly questions such as "why do we have hair in our a**cracks?" and has become well known for being a source that can be summoned to explain some confusing scientific concept in an entertaining and understandable way.

Hank, on top of being a very smart person, is also a very empathetic and forward-thinking one. He cares deeply about climate change, misinformation, and many other pressing problems. He is always looking to the future of humanity and doing it through a lens of compassion.

Even through his recent diagnosis of Non-hodgkin's lymphoma, and subsequent chemotherapy treatments, Hank continued being transparent about what he was going through, doing it in a hopeful and insightful manner, and bringing funny and informative content to the masses. I was happy to hear his announcement that his cancer was in remission a couple weeks ago.

His candid takes on news -- science or otherwise -- is a valuable source to expose thousands of TikTokers to credible and well-researched takes. Did the government really admit that aliens are real? No, and Hank will happily tell you why that isn't the case. Instead of being exposed to biased and untrustworthy clips from people only attempting to attract attention, many will be exposed to Hanks updates in it's place, which is a net positive for humanity.
